WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT

 

Through the Workforce Investment Act, eligible adults (18 or older) and dislocated workers (18 or older) can receive financial aid assistance to help pay for the cost of training (tuition, books, supplies, tools, and related costs) to attend post-secondary training providers approved by the State of Ohio.

Ohio Labor Market Information & Ohio Workforce Informer - These sites provide reports and data about employment levels, unemployment rates, wages and earnings, employment projections, jobs, training resources, and careers.

Ohio Career Tabloid - The electronic Ohio Career Tabloid provides access to occupational profile information that includes educational and training requirements of specific occupations, plus occupational wages, job outlook, industries in which the employment of each occupation is concentrated and the names of related companies for job leads.

Occupational Outlook Handbook - The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide valuable assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives.

O*NET Online - This site provides information such as worker requirements, worker characteristics, experience requirements, tasks and more for specific occupations.

FINANCIAL AID

Student Financial Assistance - The student financial assistance programs are the largest source of student aid in America, providing over $60 billion a year in grants, loans, and work-study assistance.  You can apply for Financial aide here.

Ohio Instructional Grant - Provides need-based tuition assistance to full-time undergraduate students from low and moderate income families.

College Advantage (a 529 Savings Plan) - You can use the 529 College Savings Program at any college in the country with tax-free earnings, tax-deductible contributions (Ohio taxpayers), 15 investment options and low $15 minimum contributions.

VETERANS

Department of Veterans Affairs - This site provides information on education and benefit programs available to veterans.

VETS - This is the U.S. Department of Labor's Veteran's Employment and Training Services site.

DISABLED INDIVIDUALS

Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission - The mission of the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission is to work in partnership with people with disabilities to assist them in achieving greater community participation through opportunities for employment and independence.
